What is Dermacort?
Dermacort is an anti-inflammatory cream. Dermacort cream contains the active ingredient hydrocortisone, which is a type of medicine called a topical corticosteroid. It reduces skin irritation such as swelling, redness and itch. Dermacort is available online through a Dokteronline.com partner pharmacy.
What is this Dermacort used for?
Dermacort is used to treat skin conditions that involve symptoms such as swelling, redness, itching and/or scaling. It is used to treat eczema, Seborrheic eczema, skin inflammation due to allergies or irritants, and skin reactions to insect bites and stings. When hydrocortisone is applied to the skin it works by acting inside the cells to decrease the release of inflammatory substances which cause blood vessels to widen. This reduces skin irritation and allows the skin to heal. Dermacort relieves itching in only a few hours. Other symptoms may take several days to clear up.
How to use Dermacort
Dermacort cream should be applied to clean, dry skin. Only apply to the affected area(s) of skin and massage in gently until it is fully absorbed. Wash your hands immediately after applying the cream. Avoid contact with the eyes and eyelids. Don’t apply moisturisers to the same area of skin at the same time as this medicine. Try to leave at least 30 minutes between applying moisturisers and this medicine and avoid getting the skin wet, as otherwise the moisturiser or water could dilute the corticosteroid and potentially make it less effective. Only use a dressing with this medicine if the doctor has advised you to do so.
Dermacort should initially be applied daily. As soon as your skin starts to normalise again, you can gradually discontinue use of this medicine. See the package leaflet for more information on the use of Dermacort.
